The KNAW Humanities Cluster is established to stimulate collaboration between three scientific institutes, with the aim of improving the humanities research, national and international, through continuous innovation in the field of infrastructure and Digital Humanities. The KNAW Humanities Cluster (HuC) is a collaboration between:
- Huygens Institute for the History of the Netherlands
- International Institute for Social History (IISH)
- Meertens Institute
The HuC itself has three departments:
The Digital Humanities Lab connects research across the KNAW institutes associated with the Humanities Cluster. The lab is focused on advancing humanities research through digital methods for which they bring together expertise from humanities, computational linguistics, social science and the semantic web.
The Digital Infrastructure department develops innovative digital methods and sustainable infrastructure for researchers at the three associated KNAW institutions as well as a large number of national and international partners.
The Business Office supports the employees and management of the Humanities Cluster as a whole and of the three associated KNAW institutes. The office also supports the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS) and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies (NIOD).
