Log files are files that store information about the activities on our website. When you visit our website, certain data is automatically recorded, such as:
- IP address;
- Time of website visit;
- Pages visited;
- Web browser;
- Operating system.
This information is essential for the technical management and security of the website.
AWStats and Matomo
For the analysis of log files, we use two tools with which we can provide insight into data about website use. AWStats and Matomo help us with:
- Analyzing the number of visitors and their behavior on the website;
- Identifying technical problems or unwanted activities, such as attempted intrusion or abuse;
- Improving the performance and security of the website.
The data in the log files are used exclusively for these purposes. We do not combine this information with other data to identify individual visitors.
Analyses
With the help of these tools, we analyze data such as IP addresses from the log files to gain insight into the use of our website. This includes, for example, tracking the number of visitors, the most visited pages, and the average duration of a visit. These analytics help us to better understand how users use our website so that we can optimize its content and functionality.
Note: for the purpose of analyses we do not process full IP addresses.
Security
By analyzing data such as IP addresses and unusual activity, we can detect and block suspicious or unauthorized access attempts. This helps us to protect our systems from attacks, such as hacking or DDoS attacks, and to ensure the integrity of the website and our users’ data.
Sharing and storage of your data
The data will not be shared with third parties, unless this is necessary for analysis or security purposes. This may be the case, for example, with a provider of a tool, such as AWStats.
As soon as the data is no longer needed for these purposes, it will be deleted. This usually happens within a maximum of one year.
